FORESTRY SUPERVISOR

Location: Glen Tanar Estate, Aboyne, Aberdeenshire

Reports to: Estate Directors

Glen Tanar Estate is a mixed Highland estate, with around 4,000 hectares of forest, including commercial and nature conservation elements. There is an active thinning, felling and establishment programme with a significant area of natural regeneration & continuous cover forestry. We are seeking a Forestry Supervisor to oversee forestry work including a small estate forestry team and contractors.

Job Role
• Leads, manages, and delivers specified aspects of the forestry team’s work programme, delivering on both operational and financial objectives.
• Works collaboratively with the management team to develop forestry and other commercial opportunities across the estate to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Communicates effectively and liaises with estate staff, contractors, and others as agreed with the Directors or Forestry Consultant. Reports directly to the Directors.
• Delivers compliance against all relevant quality, technical and safety specifications for the forestry team, including health and safety, environmental, training, risk assessments and ensures team are trained appropriately for their roles.

Knowledge and Skills
• Forestry, or landscaping work experience essential, with elements of supervision and management.
• Technical certificates for machinery and operations essential. HNC/HND in Forestry preferred.
• A full and valid UK driving licence.
• Up-to-date knowledge of regulations and UKWAS compliance relating to forestry, habitats, and wildlife management.
• IT skills including Word, Excel and preferably GPS/qGIS.

Salary £30 – 35k depending on experience.
