APPLICATIONS are now open for the 2025 edition of a three-year forestry graduate scheme.
Tilhill is offering opportunities across the UK for trainees to actively grow their career within the sector, which will see learners shadow highly experienced colleagues while spending time at one of the firm’s sites.
And due to Tilhill being part of the BSW Group, the programme will give graduates the chance to experience all aspects of forestry, from commercial nurseries to timber harvesting.

Stuart Pearson, business development director at Tilhill Forestry, said: “The graduate programme provides opportunities to learn which are practical, hands-on, and provide a real view into working in the industry, with mentoring from senior foresters and the wider team.
“I progressed from forest manager to director and I still take great pleasure in being involved in the Unlocking Potential scheme, part of the programme which encourages our graduates to present ideas that can help shape the future of Tilhill Forestry.”
Since the inception of the programme in 2006, Tilhill has taken on 123 graduates, with more than a quarter of the company’s current total workforce having come through the scheme.
Accepted candidates will be placed in an office or business stream where they will gain comprehensive knowledge of the industry by shadowing seasoned professionals. With placements available throughout the UK, graduate trainees will receive guidance and support from an experienced manager throughout their training period.
Forestry director Harry Stevens said: “We understand that our staff, the work they do and the important relationships they build, are key to Tilhill Forestry’s success. We must continue to nurture our employees if the business is to grow. Our graduates, and this graduate programme, are central to this.”
