ONE of Britain's leading forest researchers has been honoured with a European fellowship.
In recognition of his significant contribution to the work of the European Forest Institute (EFI), Dr Gary Kerr was awarded an EFI Fellowship at its Annual Conference in Bonn.
A leading figure at Forest Research and the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF), he was a member of EFI's Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) between 2017 and 2023 and was chair between 2020 and 2022.
Gary originally joined the Forestry Commission in 1985 and moved to (what is now) Forest Research in 1988, retiring in 2023.
He is the author and co-author of many articles in leading scientific and forestry publications, focussing on establishing the scientific basis and knowledge transfer required for the deployment of silvicultural systems in the UK.
He was editor-in-chief of the ICF's scientific journal Forestry: An International Journal of Forest Research from 2001-2021.
