NORTHERN Ireland-based MDE Machinery has introduced a new tree shear for "high output tree harvesting".
The MDE Slayer is designed for 14- to 26-tonne excavators and boasts a cutting capacity of 400mm.
Featuring high-strength Hardox steel, the shear is fitted with a removable bolt-in blade, which, the manufacturer says, minimises downtime if damaged whilst working.
A collection system can be added to the Slayer for bunching small diameter trees for fast and efficient harvesting.
A press release added: "It’s built for tough working environments for all day use in the forest.
"The Slayer features a grab and cut system which makes tree removal safer in high-risk areas.
"Operators first take a firm grip of the tree, then enabling the shear arm to cut the tree, this system reduces the chance of the tree falling after it's cut.
"End user convenience is always in the forefront of our design process, which is why the Slayer Tree Shear has simple operation controls."
