ONE of the UK’s leading cell-grown tree nurseries has launched new ‘hedging packs’ to support farmers and landowners.

Albas Trees’ kits are tailored for Countryside Stewardship grant applicants across England, but are still suitable for creating new hedges anywhere in the UK.

Made up from a mix of native trees, all plants offered in the packs are British grown, helping to prevent the unintended spread of pests and diseases.

Alba Trees director, Brett Avery, said: “We wanted to create an offering to UK landowners and land managers that would make the sourcing of plants for Countryside Stewardship grants simple and easy, as well as promoting UK-grown plants.”

Matt Lowe, Alba Trees development manager, added: “The motivation for creating these packs is to give people the opportunity to easily access UK stock; all too often the stock going into these schemes is coming from non-UK growers and we wanted to create a simple online tool to help improve the availability of home-grown stock to farmers and landowners across the UK.”

Established in 1988, Alba Trees is now the UK’s largest cell-grown tree nursery, growing over 20 million trees every year.
