Returning to the show calendar for the first time since before the pandemic, Interforst was back with a bang. Forestry Journal joined thousands of guests at Messe München last month, as 31,000 visitors and more than 300 exhibitors ensured there was plenty to see. In this series of articles, we provide a small taste of what was on offer.
ELSEWHERE on the Innovation Tour (read more about that here), MM Forsttechnik’s new Mountain Harvester and Stefan Ebert’s Felling Truck enjoyed their time in the sun, but it was an innovative concept that had FJ going back to find out more.
Still in its infancy, Gepima is a German firm set up by three brothers, all with a forestry background. At first it appeared they had a fairly standard offering; timber trailers and cranes.
But what sets Gepima apart is the fact that, via a clever drawbar and hydraulics, the trailer can be moved around with exceptional ease and flexibility. This, said co-founder and designer Michael Pirkenseer, will make it easier than ever to navigate around tight corners.
Watch the trailer in action
He said: “The way the drawbars go into the trailer is optimised, so with less weight you can have a strong solution. You can see better in your trailer from your tractor.
“It is very good in conditions where you don’t have so much space; you can steer around the trees. If the level is not so even, you can go ahead regardless.”
