LOOKING to experience all the forestry thrills of the cold, wind, and the rain from the comfort of the office? Then Tigercat's latest product could be for you.
The firm has unveiled a new simulator, complete with three screens and a motion platform, as an "ideal training tool" to give industry newbies all the tricks of the trade without machine owners facing "significant start-up costs".
Created following a partnership with CM Labs Simulations, it replicates the functionality and behaviour of Tigercat's wheel harvesters, which include the 1185. In time, simulators will be released for the manufacturer's log forwarders, too.
Tigercat VP, cut-to-length systems, Jon Cooper said: “The introduction of the Tigercat simulator provides dealers with a valuable training tool that can save machine owners significant start-up costs.
"Using the simulator to teach operational skills in realistic environments allows the new operator to enter into a real machine with much higher productivity levels from the start.
"This can produce extra production income and avoid expensive machine damage."
