A good nine months before its opening, INTERFORST, taking place 17—20 July 2022 on the exhibition grounds in Munich, is shaping up to be a great show. The upcoming edition of the international trade fair for forestry and forestry technology looks set to maintain its record size of 2018 with scientific events and practical shows, despite pandemic-related concerns.

Petra Westphal, Exhibition Director at INTERFORST, said: “We are fully on course with the figures and planning. As of now, there are even signs of a slight growth in internationalisation. Under the current conditions even this can’t be taken for granted and proves the industry will continue to need and use trade fairs as a platform in future.”

INTERFORST 2022 will occupy around 80,000 square meters — 11,000 square meters of hall space in B6 and 69,000 square meters of outdoor space. In total, around 450 exhibitors and more than 50,000 visitors are expected.

Westphal said: “At the last INTERFORST, 36 percent of the exhibitors came from other countries. Our goal is to increase this share to 40 percent.

“We see a lot of potential in the Southeast European market, especially when it comes to visitors. The Czech Republic will therefore be taken into account in all the framework program items. One of two matchmaking workshops we are organizing together with the German Agricultural Society (DLG) sets its focus on south-east Europe.”

Other firm components of INTERFORST are the scientific and practical events and special shows. For 2022, the topics of ‘Forest Conversion/Climate Change,’ ‘Forest Maintenance and Utilization Lines’, and ‘Forest Technology and Digitalisation’ are the centre of attention in the congress and forum area.

In addition, there will once again be the INTERFORST special show in Hall B6 and in the outdoor areas, organised by the Kuratorium für Waldarbeit und Forsttechnik (KWF), the Erzeugergemeinschaft für Qualitätsforstpflanzen (EZG), the Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung (DGUV) and the Sozialversicherung für Landwirtschaft, Forsten und Gartenbau (SVLFG). This show, which is about presenting future trends, will be supplemented for the first time by the DLG Forest Practice Arena in the outdoor area.

Meanwhile, the green couch has been placed in B6, which will be used by the Bavarian Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry and proHolz Bayern, as a meeting point for business, science and politics for lectures and discussions.

Because of the numerous postponed trade fairs in 2022, the dates for INTERFORST have been changed slightly for one time only. This time, the trade fair will start on a Sunday.

Westphal said: “On this day, our supporting program is completely oriented toward small and medium-sized private forest owners. In addressing this clientele, we are supported in particular by the AGDW-Die Waldeigenthaber, its regional associations and the Austrian Forest Association.”
