This article is part of our series of coverage from 2023's Confor Woodland Show. A full feature is in October's edition of the magazine, and we'll have lots more content across our channels.
As well as forestry, the show provided plenty of arboriculture-related highlights. Mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) could be found a penny a dozen, while the woodchippers on display included GreenMech, TP, Timberwolf and Titan.
On the larger end of the scale was Ufkes Greentec, which impressed with its 18-inch 942 chipper on the back of a Valtra tractor. That particular setup was the first of its kind in the UK.
“The show was quiet, and it could have been busier, but it was okay,” said managing director Mark Jibson. “We specialise in woodchippers from the Netherlands.
“There is a lot of modular design, particularly with our 942 model. Usually, it’s a tracked machine, but this particular one is a PTO one, with a standard three-point linkage. We sold this one to a customer, Westwood Tree Services in Cornwall.
“It sits quite well on the tractor. I was wondering if it would be a little bit big for it, but it sits nicely.”
